Understanding Canggu traffic
Canggu includes Batu Bolong, Berawa, Echo Beach and surrounding neighborhoods linked by a limited number of busy roads. A scooter can reduce parking problems for experienced riders, but congestion, narrow shortcuts and frequent junctions demand concentration at every time of day.
Do not learn to ride in Canggu traffic. If you are not already confident with an automatic scooter, choose a driver or another transport option. Experienced riders should still allow extra time and avoid using small residential lanes as high-speed shortcuts.
Parking, security and wet-weather riding
Use designated parking at beaches, gyms, cafés and coworking spaces. Lock the steering, keep valuables with you and do not leave documents in an open compartment. Save a photo or location pin when using a large parking area.
Heavy rain can quickly reduce visibility and make painted road markings slippery. Stop somewhere safe if conditions become uncomfortable. A schedule can be changed; safe riding cannot be replaced after an accident.
Daily versus weekly or monthly hire
Daily bike rental is useful for a short Canggu visit. Weekly hire is usually more convenient for a holiday because the scooter remains with you. Monthly rental offers a better effective rate for long stays and removes the need to extend repeatedly.
Demand in Canggu changes with the season, so book longer rentals in advance. Send alternative model preferences if the exact scooter you want is not available for the entire period.

Ride responsibly in Bali
Use a valid licence, wear a correctly fitted helmet and make sure your personal insurance covers scooter riding. Do not ride when inexperienced, tired or impaired. Follow local rules, slow down for changing road conditions and choose alternative transport whenever riding would not be safe.
